Akior Garcia



Akior García was born in Puerto de La Cruz, Tenerife (1987). He began playing drums at the age of 13 years old, receiving lessons from teachers like José Isidro (a.k.a. Pepucho) and Jose Miguel Méndez (a.k.a. Churchi) at the Los Realejos Music School. In addition, he attended three years of harmony lessons with the sax player Sergio García. In 2007, he began working as a studio musician playing and recording with many national artists while teaching in many music schools in Tenerife.

He has recorded and played with many different artists like: Andi Deris (Helloween), Chico Pinheiro (Herbie Hancock, Brad Melhdau, Chris Potter,...), José Vélez, Deborah Carter, Chago Melián, Torsten de Winkel (Pat Metheny, Billy Cobham, Steve Smith...), Nantha Kumar (Sixum), etc. He also have been playing in many international music festivals where he shared stage with: Stanley Clarke, Branford Marsalis, Paul Jackson, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Bill Frisell, Steve Swallow), Chano Dominguez, Snarky Puppy, John McLaughlin, Chucho Valdés, Gary Willis, Kenny Barron, Dave Holland, Marcus Miller, Roy Hargrove, Joe Lovano...

Nowadays, Akior García plays with ST Fusion, Simbeque, Chago Melián "Entre Cuerdas", Tritono, Isabel Gonzalez, etc.

He also created a new personal project called "Baterías a la Carta" (Drums A La Carte) bringing the possibility to order drums recordings via online. He also works as a music teacher at the public music school in Adeje (Tenerife) giving music lessons to more than fifty students.
