Alpay Salt


Born in Istanbul on 25 October 1968, Alpay Şalt is a self taught drummer, he studied at the Graphic Arts MSÜ Faculty of Fine Arts. He's held seven private exhibitions. He started playing the drums with his first band SETH while he was in high school.

In 1989 he joined the group called Whisky, which had released the first ever Turkish hard rock album of Turkey called 'Babaanne (Grandma)'. In 1992 he opened Turkey's first percussion instruments and drum store Whisky Drum Shop. In 1998 he was selected as Turkey's best rock drummer.

Throughout his musical career, Şalt worked with the likes of Objektif, Sibel Tüzün, Rapsodi, Erkin Koray, Alpay, Gür Akad, Cem Köksal and Joe Lynn Turner. In 2011 he celebrated the 25th year of his musical career and represented Turkey in Eurovision Song Contest with his band Yüksek Sadakat. Şalt has been continuing his musical career performing with his project called GITARIZMA and re-united WHISKY .He is presenting a drum workshop/clinic series called "DrumTalk" all around Turkey. Beside his busy schedule he produced and hosted a radio program with an all original concept called KIRIK YELKOVAN at Turkey's 3rd most preferred radio station ALEM FM at 89.2 for 6 months and celebrated the 100th night before it comes to an end.

He is invited to be the new drummer for the successful Turkish actor Burak Sergen's rock project BSB and also celebrating the 35th Anniversary of WHISKY.
