Davide DiRenzo

Biography

DAVIDE DiRENZO (drummer, percussionist) was born in Guelph, Ontario, Canada. He is said to have been a child prodigy “born with sticks in has hands”. He is an alumnus of the University of Toronto’s Jazz Studies program. 

He was the ‘house drummer’ for the hugely successful ‘Canadian Idol’ television talent competition, and has worked with many of the country’s top performers and recording artists including Jacksoul, Holly Cole, Ashley McIsaac, Melissa Stylianou, Dione Taylor, Heather Bambrick, Eliana Cuevas, Richard Underhill, Bill King’s Saturday Night Fish Fry, Sarah Slean, Carol Welsman, and Alanis Morisette, to list just some.

Davide DiRenzo was a member of the Peter Smith Quartet when they were featured during the “Sound of Toronto Jazz” Concert Series at the Ontario Science Centre on November 1, 1999. 

Awards:

2007 – As a member of Jacksoul, won a Juno Award for R&B ‘Soul Recording of the Year’ (Jacksoul for mySOUL)

2008 – National Jazz Awards Nominee as ‘Jazz Drummer of the Year’
