What is Palisono?
Palisono is a composite material reinforced with fiberglas developed by Sonor for percussion instruments. The sound characteristics are especially suitable for the use with xylophones. Palisono feature excellent sound and resonance qualities and are less sensitive towards changes in temperature and humidity.

What are chances of xylophones loosing their pitch?character of wood they tend to react more sensitively at drastic changes in temperature and humidity.
Sonor xylophones with Palisono and rosewood bars have very consistent pitch due to the precision Sonor tuning process. The specific density and features of their unique bar material Palisono xylophones are very resistant to changes in temperature and humidity. Sonor xylophones made of genuine rosewood are also precision tuned for optimum pitch and offer a characteristic dry sound and tonal quality. Due to the natural

Can Sonor glockenspiels and metallophones loose their pitch?
Sonor instruments with metal bars feature the same unique precision tuning process as wood and Palisono instruments.. Metal in general reacts much less sensitive to temperature changes than wood. Therefore you will experience little or almost no detuning with these instruments.

Is there an ideal playing position for mallets?
Especially when playing xylophones, metallophones, glockenspiels and timpani the mallets should be held between thumb and index finger allowing for maximum bounce off the instrument.

Which songs are suitable for diatonic bar instruments?
Songs in C- major or A-minor, F-major or D-minor, G-major or E-minor scales are suitable.

What is the difference between rosewood and Palisono bars?
Genuine rosewood is a natural material. Palisono is a heavy duty composite synthetic material made of fiberglas. Both produce are typical wooden sound and are used in the manufacturing of xylophones. Genuine rosewood bars have a typical dry tone with short sustain, Palisono bars have a longer sustain and react less sensitive towards changes in temperature or humidity.

Why do box instruments have a string underneath the sound bars?
Sonor instruments with box resonators feature a support cushion braid made of high quality textile for optimum resonance of the sound bars.

Why do resonator boxes have separate compartments in different shapes and dimensions?
The sound of a musical instrument is mainly influenced by the shape and design of its resonator. Depending on the pitch each sound bar of a percussion instrument needs a specific and carefully calculated resonator volume to allow for maximum sound quality and resonance.
