2008 Modern Drummer Festival With Web Coverage

As Attendance Peaks, The 2008 Modern Drummer Festival™ Goes Global With First Ever Web Coverage Hosted and Produced By Hudson Music.

While acknowledging that nothing beats the experience of attending the upcoming Modern Drummer Festival™ Weekend (September 20 and 21, 2008 at Purchase College in Purchase, NY), Hudson Music and Modern Drummer have announced that regular updates from the event will be available online at www.hudsonmusic.com/festival. The online coverage marks the first time that a major drum festival is being supported on the Web and is expected to increase the MD Festival’s visibility around the world—expanding the regional drumming event into an international one.

Online visitors to Hudson’s Festival coverage will be treated to video of partial performance segments, behind the scenes footage, backstage photos of artists, celebrities and guests, and news blogs throughout the two-day event with additional pre-show coverage beginning on Friday, September 19.

Performing artists for the 2008 edition of the MD Festival feature an eclectic mix of leading drummers and percussionists, including: Simon Phillips (Toto/The Who/Jeff Beck), Ndugu Chancler (Michael Jackson/Santana/Weather Report), Will Calhoun (Living Colour), Billy Ward (Joan Osborne/Robbie Robertson/Bill Champlin), Thomas Pridgen (The Mars Volta), Bill Stewart (John Scofield/Pat Metheny), Gavin Harrison (Porcupine Tree/King Crimson), Todd Sucherman (Styx/Brian Wilson), Dafnis Prieto (Michel Camilo) and Derek Roddy (Serpents Rise/Traumedy)

This year marks the 19th edition of the Modern Drummer Festival which is presented by Modern Drummer Publications and recognized as one of the world’s premier drumming events.
