    25.02.2015

Jacky Bourbasquet started studying drums as well as percussion at the Conservatory in Paris in the beginning of the 70’s. Around 1975 he began his professional career by exploring different aspects of the music profession and genres: from cabaret to studio work, as well as television (Champs Elysée, Lahaye d’Honneur, Star 90 etc.) both in France and abroad (Japan, USA, Australia, Great Britain, New Zealand, Greece, Canada, South Africa, North Africa, Scandinavia, West and East Europe, to name a few).

His career allowed him to work with many different international and French artists such as Nana MOUSKOURI, Dave GRUSIN, Nicolas de ANGELIS, Jean-Claude BORELLY, Richard CLAYDERMAN, William SHELLER, Catherine LARA, CHAGRIN D'AMOUR and many more.

Jacky's collaborations with various composers and arrangers led him to take part in recording jingles for TV and radio, and countless recording for many artists. In 1979 he was asked to join the prestigious team of French artists under contract with SONOR, a brand to which he remained loyal ever since.

In 1987 SONOR Germany entrusted him to managing artistic relations and branding in France, a position that allowed him to participate in many demonstrations, clinics  and master classes throughout the country.

In 1996 he was announced the Sales manager of the Hohner and SONOR distribution company (Hohner SAS), a position he fulfilled until February 2015.

Author of more than twenty drum methods / educational books and creator of the DRUM SESSION collection, he is the founder of a drum school network and creator of the national drum competition "TROPHY SONOR", from which a big number of today’s French drummers come from.

During the ceremony held for Jacky's retirement, SONOR Germany thanked him for his loyalty and support over all these years. In appreciation of his service he was presented with an absolutely unique Snare Drum (Maple, 14” x 7”, yellow lacquered, black plated hardware and a golden Badge with his Name engraved) by SONOR's managing director Karl-Heinz Menzel.

The entire SONOR team wishes him all the best for his future and we are looking forward to stay in touch.
