SONOR supports the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation

May 9, 2009, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) will host “Tribute”, its annual Vision Gala, honoring and paying tribute to Dr. David and Maryann Zucker and the Children and Families of JDRF.

Diabetes is an enemy that affects over 24 million American men, women, and children – over seven percent of our population. It is an enemy that strikes suddenly and requires constant care that alters families’ daily lives, while they still face potentially devastating future consequences. Diabetes is so prevalent that most people know or love an individual impacted by the disease. Just imagine giving your toddler or child up to six shots a day. Imagine monitoring everything they eat and every minute of exercise. Imagine having to stick their finger up to as many as twelve times a day to check their blood sugar. Now join us in helping us turn our vision of a cure into reality.

JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) is the world’s leading charitable funder and advocate of juvenile (type 1) diabetes research worldwide, and has awarded more than $1 billion to research since it was founded in 1970 by the parents of children with juvenile diabetes – a disease which strikes children suddenly, makes them insulin-dependent for life, and carries the constant threat of devastating complications including blindness, amputation, kidney failure, stroke and heart disease.

More than 85 percent of JDRF’s expenditures directly support research and research education, earning the Foundation outstanding ratings from philanthropy watch groups.
Our goal remains constant and focused: to find a cure for diabetes and its complications by supporting research. We are driven to find a cure because we know, firsthand, the toll of Type 1 diabetes – someone we love has it.

The Gala event features an evening full of surprises, with a record-setting auction with a grand array of one-of-a-kind items. One of these One-of-a-kind items is a SONOR Force 3007 14x5” Snare Drum in Piano Black, hand signed by Phil Rudd himself, SONOR artist family member since almost 40 years and drummer for the most successful rock bands of all times, AC/DC.
