Music Pedagogical Orff Workshop
Pulsatile instruments have gained high importance in modern education of music and movement. The main reason is their high vitality and their compelling powers, their stimulative nature, wide sound spectrum and their relatively simple handling. The workshop shows modern possible applications in kindergartens, various school types, social facilities and families. A hands-on workshop for everybody interested in the possibilities of Orff and percussion instruments, no matter if privately or professionally!
The workshop is conducted by the German Orff teacher Wolfgang Schmitz, who has been active in the fields of early music education, musical basic education, drums classes and ensemble leading.
Mr. Schmitz will lead the workshop in a way that will be suitable for people with little previous knowledge.
He will show the usage of many small percussion instruments like triangles, shakers, hand drums, cymbals as well as core Orff instruments like Xylophones, Metallophones and Glockenspiels. The playing with instruments is prepared by body percussion (the use of fingers, hands and feet) and rhythms evolve from singing and rhythmically spoken syllables. This method is a musical one and furthers the physical music making and holistic perception. Body percussion also leads into the area of movement, which also is a very important part of Orff education.
Since the beginning in 1988 Wolfgang Schmitz has taught over 40.000 students in various countries, he is a reputable music pedagogue and the author of various musical books and songs. He is looking forward to meeting you!
