"Broadway pits require precision and consistency not just in terms of performance, but also in terms of sound. The feel, tone, look and craftsmanship of Sonor drums are unmatched and will help me deliver night after night."
Dena currently holds the drum chair for the critically acclaimed Off-Broadway revival of Little Shop of Horrors, now in its sixth year at the Westside Theatre. She is also a sub for Hamilton as well as Six (both the drum and percussion chairs).
In 2022, Dena was a guest drummer for Late Night with Seth Meyers. Dena previously held the drum chair on Broadway’s Head Over Heels and Kristin Chenoweth: For The Girls. She was a drum sub for The Heart of Rock and Roll, Beetlejuice and The Cher Show, and continues to perform at industry special events, having supported artists such as Josh Groban, Jennifer Holiday, Audra McDonald, Nicole Scherizinger, Vanessa Williams, and Lea Salonga.
Prior to her entrée to Broadway, Dena recorded and toured for 20 years with the all-female rock band, Antigone Rising. The band was signed by Lava/Atlantic records and enjoyed many high-profile gigs, including a VHI Special (Listen Up) and appearances on the Today Show and Tonight Show. Antigone Rising served as cultural ambassadors to the US Embassies in Israel, the West Bank and Vietnam. She has also worked on a for-hire basis with several local, regional and international artists, including Rob Thomas of Matchbox Twenty.
Dena is a Certified Drum Therapist with the DAD (Drums & Disabilities) program, a clinician and freelance writer. She was featured in Sticks n Skins, a photography book on the drumming community and in the September 2018 issue of Modern Drummer magazine.
