Christian Grassart
Christian Grassart started studying drums at the private school, when he was 13 years old, for 6 years. There he early discovered Jazz and Fusion music. In 1989, he went to the Conservatory of Nice and obtained the "1er Prix de Conservatoire" in the category Jazz drums, after only 1 year.
In the 90's he performed with Claude Bolling in Garche (Paris) for a private event at when he was 18 years old. The bands and music he plays with are of different kind of music, some of the artists include Lio, Marc TOESCA, Michel VILLANO, Albert KASSABI (from the band Forbans), Jeane MANSON, Philippe LAVILLE, André VERCHUREN. He shared the stages with Patrick BRUEL, Patrick RONDAT, Norbert KRIEF (Trust), Fabienne THIBAULT, Bobby SHEW Big Band Paradiso, Andréa TOFANELLI, Nicolas FOLMER.
He's often called for recording sessions - bands and artists he has worked with include Pascal MONO (Star Academy), Kate Yvorra, RDSK, Theresa Rhodes to name but a few. In 2005, he joined the fusion band ISOTOP and their "Electrochoc" tour (Nice Jazz Festival, Jazz in Juan, etc.). Isotop is well known for mixing acoustic and electronic music, working with loops. Back in 2009 he became drum teacher at the M3 School (Music 3000 France).
As a clinician he has participated in several events in France and Italy like a Musica in Fiera at Rome, Groove Day at Milan and recently Music Addiction with Mike Terrana. Today, his work includes different projects with the trio ADN with Scoff Di Niello and Thierry Conand (Album/Video), recording drums videos, and performing Clinics for SONOR and others in France, as well as numerous collaborations with French Artists.
He works with his Mentor and Friend STEVE SMITH. Christian edits the videos and he mixes the sound too since 2017. Since 2023, he has been writing for his column "Nota Batt" on Batterie Magazine national edition. Which allows him to share his drumming philosophy!!
