Gonçalo Salta is a Portuguese drummer with an active career both on stage and in the studio. Throughout his work, he has performed and recorded with artists such as Nuno Ribeiro, Jimmy P, J Mystery, Ricardo Azevedo, Ala dos Namorados, Ana Bacalhau, Mónica Ferraz, Francisca Borges, João Couto, Ivo Lucas, April Ivy, Piruka and others. He is also the founder and drummer of his own band, Candy For Aliens, where he develops his original music.
Gonçalo began studying music at the age of 7 and started his jazz drum training at 8. Early on, he developed a versatile and adaptive musical approach, marked by a distinct energy and a strong sense of identity. By the age of 13 he was already taking his first professional steps, building a career that now spans touring, studio work and education.
In addition to his live performances, Gonçalo dedicates a significant part of his work to studio recording, collaborating on numerous albums and projects for a wide range of artists. He is also an active drum instructor, contributing to the training of new musicians and to the development of the national music scene.
His artistic evolution has been shaped by studies with several renowned national and international drummers, including Rui Silva, Filipe Lopes, João Martins, Bruno de Oliveira, Jorge Oliveira, Billy Cobham, Michael Lauren and José Marrucho. His musical language combines a solid foundation in jazz with the traditions of rock and blues, continuously exploring new sonic paths.
Currently, Gonçalo divides his time between touring, studio sessions and teaching, maintaining a steady commitment to creativity, precision and artistic growth.
