Ryan states: “I’ve been playing drums since 1983. When I started playing as a 10 year old kid, I always played any drum i could get my hands on. At the time, it was more about playing drums than appreciating the craftsmanship and sound of a drum. In my mid teens I started paying attention to actual drum sounds and the quality of each drum I played. I was introduced to several drum companies but there was one company that always stood out among the rest, that company was Sonor Drums. I remember hearing a Sonor Kit for the first time. My appreciation for the sound of Sonor drums was instantaneous. The truth is, when it came time to buying my first kit, I couldn’t afford the Sonor Kit I wanted, it was a Sonorlite Kit back in 1988. So I got what I could afford with another company I also liked at the time. Although, that initial introduction to Sonor Drums and their sound always stuck with me, even when playing another brand of drums. You could say I became an instant, closet Sonor Fan, like many other drummers on the planet. Sonor Drums always had this tonal clarity, resonance and beauty to their sound. They were always so clean, pronounced and articulate in delivery. That Sonor sound was always so notable and original to me. Fast forward many years later, I’m a professional drummer touring the world with international artist, Devin Townsend. I'm endorsed with amazing companies, getting feature interviews in major drum magazines, doing drum clinics and so much more… Living the dream! One thing was missing. It was that craving to play what I thought are the best sounding drums on the planet. Sonor Drums. I was looking for new and more versatile drum tones for the DTP’s evolving sound and for Session Work versatility. No matter how hard I looked at my current endorsement or any other drum company, I always ended up coming back to wanting that Sonor Drum sound. That was when I knew it was time to finally approach them and see if they would be interested in having me endorse their drums. At this point in my career, I want to represent what I truly think are the best sounding drums on the planet, just like the rest of the gear I endorse. It’s no disrespect to my previous drum endorsement, they make excellent drums as well and are a great company. It was the fact that the specific sound I’m looking for and have loved for almost 30 years, IS that Sonor Drum sound. To my absolute pleasure, Sonor welcomed me with open arms. My 'Drum Dream’ came true. I finally get to play and endorse my dream drum kit. A Sonor drum kit.

The series I chose to play from Sonor are the Prolite Series. I absolutely love the beautiful sound, tone and resonance of the Prolite’s. The tonal versatility of these Maple Drums are perfect for the DTP and any session I choose to do. You can tune them so many different ways and they always come out sounding amazing!!! They’re articulate yet dynamic drums. To me, the Prolite Series is the ultimate set of drums. The Bronze Cast Artist Series 14” x 6” Snare drum is the KING of  Snare Drums hands down. Just like the Prolite Series, I can tune that snare low, mid or high and it delivers an incredible sound. I’ve never had a snare with such a versatile tuning range. Same goes for my Prolite 14” x 6” side snare drum. It’s a gorgeous maple drum. My four rack tom setup has so much depth. All the way from my 8” x 7" Tom to my 16” x 16” Floor tom, there’s a punctual tone that delivers for any style of music, while retaining that undeniable Sonor sound. Last but not least, the 22” x 17.5” kick drums sound unreal. It’s like they have finely tuned subwoofers built in to them!! They have this perfect attack with amazing depth…. Warm, punchy and BIG is how i would best describe them! I absolutely love the Prolite Series and everything about them along with the 600 series Sonor Hardware. German hand-made engineering at its best! I couldn’t be happier to be an endorsee of such a classy, innovative and respectable company. It’s an honour and I’m grateful to move forward in my drumming career with Sonor as my 1st and ultimate choice of drums.”
