Vini Baschera

With a degree in Classical Percussion from the University of Passo Fundo/RS, he held his graduation concert in 2009 and in 2011 his research paper on how drums entered the regional music of Rio Grande do Sul. During his studies, he performed several percussion recitals with works by great names in world percussion, such as: Keiko Abe, Nebozja Zivkovic, Ney Rosauro, Dave Samuels, Emmanuel Sejourné, Eliot Carter, Sigfried Fink, among others.

During 2013, he lived in São Paulo/SP where he formed the instrumental trio VETrio, together with guitarist Tiago de Moura and bassist Everton Rosa, with whom they recorded a highly acclaimed documentary video on instrumental fusion, called “VETrio Ao Vivo e Sem Cortes”, recorded live at Estúdio500. That same year, he designed and released his first independent DVD “First Drum Lesson”, to promote his work on social media.

In 2014, he moved to Portugal to further his studies in the academic field and in 2016 he completed his master's degree in Artistic Interpretation/Jazz, under the guidance of American professor Michael Lauren. During this time specializing at ESMAE (Higher School of Arts, Music and Entertainment), in the city of Porto/Portugal, he participated in several concerts as a drummer for the Big Band ESMAE, researched and wrote his thesis on the technique “Ação e Reação” – conceived by Brazilian drummer Kiko Freitas.

In 2017, he went on tour with Portuguese pop artist David Carreira, where he remained for 5 years, having played shows frequently in Portugal, as well as in other European countries.

In 2022, he released his first EP as a duo with accordionist João Barradas - entitled Daily Commute - an exotic and innovative duo until then formed solely by acoustic drums and midi accordion. In the same year, he was invited to accompany the Lisbon Underground Music Ensemble (L.U.M.E.) and played at important jazz festivals such as: Jazz Sous Les Pommiers (FR), Novara Jazz (IT), Jazzfestival Saalfelden (AU).

2025, he recorded the new album of Augusto Baschera 4tet -  Apócrifo - “APÓCRIFO” represents everything that questions the obvious and offers a parallel perspective to the conventional canon. It is both tradition and modernity, change and resilience, with a spirit that carries faith and audacity.

Vini is one of the most versatile drummers in Portugal, both in the area of teaching and performance and content creation on social media.
