The glockenspiel, known in Europe since the 17th century, owes its name to the fact that originally small bells were struck with metal bars. Nowadays, the metal sound plates arranged like a keyboard, are played with two mallets. The resonance boxes we have developed give each note an ideal resonance chamber and a resonance hole that is tuned to the individual tone. This is what gives SONOR glockenspiels their rounded, perfect sound.
