David Bowen

David Bowen was born to a musical family in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He began studying drums around the age of 5. During High School he began to play professionally with a variety of bands from Polka, Rock, Big Band to small group jazz. This experience took him to school at the University of Central Oklahoma where he studied jazz performance. After a few years there he was recruited to New York City by saxophonist Peter Yellin. During his time in New York David focused on frequenting every jam session he could find, as well as attending every show he could get into. This was an education beyond the classroom. After taking a job as a show band drummer on Carnival Cruise Lines for 2-years, David relocated to Austin Texas and began freelancing and touring/recording with Texas Artists Blue Edmondson, Dale Watson, Cody Canada, Chris Duarte, and other Oklahoma/Texas Country/Legends for the next decade performing at Festivals, arena tours, and even a Presidential Inauguration.

When he relocated back to Oklahoma in 2017 David shifted his focus on jazz and education again, and after meeting his wife/bass player/ bandmate Rei Wang, he enrolled back in school to finish his undergraduate degree in jazz performance as a jazz percussionist. David continues to live with his wife Rei in Oklahoma City and performs/teaches/records while also pursuing musical excellence in jazz, playing 5 nights a week, helping him quickly become a staple across the southwest US.

David has performed with Phil Woods, Jack Greene, Dave Pietro, Sean Jones, Miguel Zenon, John Daversa, Nick Mancini, Pat Bianchi, David Gibson, Joey DeFrancesco, Ingrid Jensen, Steve Weist, Laila Biali and many more.
