Hans is a versatile power drummer with roots in classical percussion and jazz drumming (as well as playing jazz vibraphone).
He is known for being a player that tackles any genre or style and has a high energy attitude and sound. He has always (decades now) chosen SONOR as the only brand out there to truly translate this sound to the audience, the mixer, the artist and in the last 12 years the SQ2 ‘castle’ (as he calls it:-) has been the tool of choice.

Recent years and before
From 2012 till 2022 hans was the drummer for The Voice of Holland (all editions), this show unfortunately was taken off the air recently, awaiting a new start. The Voice is a Dutch invention that was exported abroad after the second season in Holland.
Hans has performed on all rock albums released by Dutch rock singer Anouk and has toured with her for years, starting in 2002. After that he was the drummer for Belgian pop singer Natalia for 7 years, performing on festivals mainly.
In the period 2012-2022 Hans has toured several times with Kayak (Prog Rock) internationally and is also the drummer in the current lineup.
Awards: Hans was awarded 35 times in the last 20 years by the Dutch drummer’s magazine Slagwerkkrant in 4 categories and was voted to be ‘drummer’s drummer’ 15 times, including 2022-2023 (needless to say that he is permanently grateful and honoured for all of that)
With his wife, Marieke he started a company that releases apps for iPhones and iPads for musicians, the first release was a professionally filmed video clinic on technique, groove and improvisation for drummers, Drum Clinic HD. Performed on his newest SQ2 in 2012. After releasing the first app many followed and the app Drum Loops HD has lead to a great international fan base and success, a groove library for non-drummers to compose music with. Performed on the very same SQ2, 2 years later. This company is constantly trying to create new content for iOS musicians and thanks to his wife who programs and designs the full product, new releases and updates can be expected.
