Jorge Orlando

He studied with Alberto J. Alcala and Oscar DAuria in Manuel de Falla Music Conservatory, and graduated in the practice and training course for Jazz Ochestras, taught by Gerardo Chiarella.

Working Experience

At the age of 12 he joined the group Viva la Gente (Argentina) for 3 years. In the 70s he performed in all kinds of concerts on television and theatre plays, with different groups of Rock, Jazz, Tango and Argentine Folk.

In the 80s he started working as a session drummer and formed the group Melodías de Hollywood, with whom he performed around the country and on several cruises (Eugenio Costa - Costa Crocciere) around Brasil, USA and the Caribbean for four periods.

In the year 1991 he performed in Brasil in the festival Una Noche en Buenos Aires (A night in Buenos Aires).

In Febuary 1992 he performed with the Sexteto Mayor in the Venecian Carnival, in the festival Tangomania.

In November 1992 he joined Tango Pasión. After the debut in  Miami, the group performed more than 2000 shows.

Teaching Experience

He worked as a musician in the Contemporary Dance Studio of the San Martin Theatre, and collaborated with drum magazines.

He worked as a teacher in the Oscar DAuria Studio, in the Ricardo Pellican Music School and in his own Studio.

He also does research on Argentine native rhythms.

Among other recordings he participated in the work of the Sexteto Mayor: a tribute to Piazzolla, that won the Grammy award for Best Tango Album, in the year 2003.
