United Kingdom Folk Rock

Martin Johnson

Martin "Magic" Johnson began playing drums at age 11. He had a natural flair for the instrument and was soon accepted to begin formal study with one of the UK's top drum teachers. This led him to study all styles of music, from Jazz, Be Bop, Cuban, Latin to Rock and Fusion.

By the age of 16 Martin had already been on a variety of tours in Europe, had appeared on TV and had performed at many notable venues including the prestigious Royal Albert Hall and Royal Festival Hall. Martin became a professional drummer when he left school and around this time was given the nickname "Magic" by his peers. He has worked consistently to a high level since and is regarded by many to be one of the busiest and most respected musicians in the UK.

Martin also performs drum clinics, seminars, masterclasses and lectures around the world, educating students in all styles of music. To list the musicians and artists Martin has worked with would be exhaustive, but would include:

Dennis Stratton (ex Iron Maiden)

Praying Mantis

Guthrie Govan

The Sweet

Les Mckeown & The Bay City Rollers

Lee Latchford-Evans (STEPS)

B*witched

Barbarellas

Larry Adler
