Additionally, they are recessed back into the claws to avoid any injuries, as well as damage on the player's uniform. The claws are rubber lined for maximum protection of the hoops. The cross-laminated beech shells give these drums a phat sound with lots of projection. Moreover, the lugs are mounted with four mounting screws to distribute tension evenly across the shell in order to improve sound quality.
